Please note we are presently not accepting new obstetrical patients

For many women, pregnancy and childbirth is full of mixed emotions. Even as some expecting moms excitedly shop for baby supplies, they experience subtle concerns that they may not be doing everything possible to help ensure a healthy baby. As they pack their delivery bags, there is a fear over the unknown events that will transpire over the next few hours. And as they proudly show off their infants to adoring friends and family, they may struggle with the aftereffects of childbirth.

For well over twenty-five years, Dr. Demetra Vassiliou has been there to assist Ottawa-area women in all three phases of childbirth with her own unique approach to obstetrics that blends competent professionalism with compassion. She studied medicine at McGill Univerisity and then did postgraduate studies at Queen’s University, McMaster University, the University of Western Ontario and Vanderbilt University so she can care for you with the latest evidence-based medical procedures.

At each OBGYN visit, expecting moms interact with a caring professional who takes time to answer any and all questions. Additional peace-of-mind comes from 24/7/365 access to the triage unit where experienced maternity nurses can give you advice.

We invite you to explore our website and reach out to us with any questions that you have about our unique brand of family centered obstetrical care.

Prenatal Care

Comprehensive prenatal care begins before conception. If you are considering pregnancy, Dr. Vassiliou recommends that you make an appointment with your physician to discuss a number of different health areas.

Labour and Delivery

The Birthing Unit at The Ottawa Hospital’s Civic Campuse has world-class facilities, starting with fully private labor/delivery/recovery suites that are very family friendly.

Postnatal Care

Both vaginal and medically-assisted deliveries can sometimes create physical and emotional stress and some new moms feel some lingering after-effects.
