Options for prenatal testing include the enhanced FTS (First Trimester Screen) (eFTS) which is covered by OHIP and NIPT (Noninvasive Prenatal Testing) which is not covered unless you are over 40 years old, have an abnormal eFTS result or other risk factors which increase the risk of a genetic abnormality in the fetus. Your family doctor or Dr. Vassiliou will discuss these options in detail. In certain circumstances a referral will be made to CHEO genetics department.

 

Be aware that eFTS testing needs to be completed by 13 3/7 weeks gestation so early booking for this test is imperative.
