Weight Gain in Pregnancy
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has recommendations for pregnancy weight gain. These are based on prepregnancy weights as defined by your Body Mass Index (BMI). Your BMI will be calculated on your first visit and Dr. Vassiliou will discuss the guidelines with you and monitor your weight throughout your pregnancy.

It is not unusual to not follow a steady increase per week. Dr. Vassiliou will let you know if adjustments need to be made in eating and/or exercise.
